Nine of us and one four footed companion met up for this walk through the mysterious dripping ferns, sparkling river, fed by leats and waterfalls and the mossy woods of Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s reserve. It really deserves to be better known, the trees shroud the remains of 100 years of gunpowder manufacturing incuding ruined buildings, a flooded quarry, massive boulders and giant mill cogs and wheels.
A lovely, still evening – and warm enough to sit outside having a drink at the Stag Hunt afterwards, and wish a happy 18th birthday to Amy.
Walkers: Christine, Mike, John, Jude, Jonathan, Amy, Matthew, Chris and Jane – not forgetting walkies leader – Bertie.
