Intermediate Ride report Poldark 26th April

Four there were to venture to Poldark Mine; Dave Bennett, Chris Fearnley, Nigel Andrews and Niq Carter-Rowe
Carnon Downs by way of Kea Hill, then plunging down old Carnon Hill and up to Perranwell Station. Directly ahead through Stithians and Carnkie, we paused to read the menu at the PH at Porkellis, which was shut at the time. Heading for Wendron we stopped at Poldark Mine, which has been shut/sold but now reopened. Free Coffee with the proprietor and a welcoming chat about cafe extensions in the near future had to stop as hunger set in and we headed to Helston. Chris discovered a short cut to the boating lake, where we sat in the glorious sunshine for lunch (outside the cafe, not in the lake!).
Taking the cycle path through Penrose estate to Porthleven we battled through the mingling festival-goers and followed the coast road until turning left for Breague. Gentle climbing to Godolphin Cross and Four Lanes for the return route through Gwennap and Perranwell to Carnon Downs once more.
Back to Truro by Kea Hill shows 73 km average speed 17kph but 1004m of climbing.
Ride Concept: Dave Bennett
Navigation mostly by Chris Fearnley
