Intermediate ride to Heligan 24.05.2015

We arrived at Weatherspoons in a light drizzle and overcast skies (ride leader and accompanying wife) to be met by Jane who informed us that Carl Jackaman, a new recruit to the club, would be joining us on the ride. Accompanying wife was keen to call it a day and return to bed but now we had no alternative but to set off.
The three of us left the Piazza and continued up Tregolls Road and down into Tresillian.  Left into the Ladock Valley and onto the Ladock climb eventually reaching Grampound Road. There follows a very pleasant descent through Trenowth Woods by which time the weather had improved somewhat. For the Strava followers we then tackled the Combe Hill climb to reach the A390 at Hewas Water. The straight forward route took us to Heligan where cake and coffee were consumed rather than the usual protracted luncheon.
Back to Truro via St. Ewe and the nasty Polmassick climb onto Tregony, left into Killow and the Trewithen Estate, down through Probus, Tresillian and onto the unpleasant Julian Foye climb and we arrived comfortably in Truro at 12.56.
An enjoyable ride considering the earlier weather, a distance of 31.9miles at average speed of 12mph with 1034 metres of climbing.  Ride leader Paul Charlesworth, accompanying wife Hanna and new club recruit Carl Jackaman.
