Originally there were six of us destined for the Intermediate Ride to Crantock, however Chris F was operating a bring-and-buy sale and had stock left over which had to be returned to base. Chris informed us that he would endeavour to catch us by the time we reached Fraddon.
The route took us up Tregolls Road on to Tresillian and up the Ladock Valley. We reached Fraddon at an average speed of 14.5mph. As it had started to drizzle we decided to push on and not to wait for Chris. As we headed towards White Cross the drizzle turned to more persistent rain. Brief stop at White Cross to put on rain jackets. Onwards to Lappa Valley and then climb up to Newlyn East, cross the A3075 at Trewolla which took some time as the groggles were out in their cars rather than on the beach.
Into Crantock and Cosy Nook café where the Easy Ride were already ensconced under the awning. The usual fare offered by the Cosy Nook and we were soon the only customers left in the café owing to the inclement weather. Bernard had to be back in Truro so he left early and after lunch Nick decided to go back via Goonhavern and Perranporth. That left Melinda and Penny and the ride leader to head back to Truro. Luckily the rain had now eased so we set off for Newlyn East onto Mitchell and the Ladock Valley, Tresillian and then finally up the Julian Foyle hill.
Thanks to Bernard, Penny, Niq and Melinda for an enjoyable ride of 63.5KM at average speed of 12.3mph. Ride Leader: Paul Charlesworth
