Riders: John and Jude, Paul and Ros, Dave B, John G, Niq, John G, Chloe and Guest Rider Carla
The dull grey start to the day was unable to dampen the enthusiasm for a super-slow dawdle on the first of our new monthly super easy rides.
After a slight delay while the entire technical knowhow of Club members failed to adjust Chloe’s derailleur we set off toward Coosebean.
After climbing the Greenway we took advantage of the Cycle Superhighway (AKA shared pedestrian/cyclepath) and we passed Treliske and through Threemilestone.
Hurtling towards Chacewater at speeds sometimes exceeding 10mph we diverted at Dangerous Crossing for Blackwater.
Niq came up with an idea to keep our bikes squeaky clean by diverting towards Chiverton Church and through the ford to Silverwell. Internally, I sniggered as I contemplated the route ahead.
Carla was suitably impressed with the scenery along our route as we continued to cross the A30 without a car in sight. Within minutes we were at the Allet turning for St Allen which is where the mud began. Sigh.
Through Quiet Lanes we continued to Idless. Finally, arriving at the Woodman’s Cabin my Odometer read 13.9 miles :Average Speed 7.9 mph.
Super!
Penny joined us for lunch while Chloe returned to childminding duties (or possibly to seek a decent mechanic).
