The 2015 Bob Mansbridge Memorial Ride
Thanks to all riders – what a brilliant day! You can still donate here.
Truro Cycling Club rides again for Parkinson’s UK, in memory of club founder, Bob Mansbridge.
On 14th June, 108 cyclists completed a long distance course along the lanes of Cornwall, to raise money to support people with Parkinson’s in Cornwall. The ride was in memory of Bob Mansbridge, founder of Truro Cycling Club 26 years ago and club chairman for many of those years. Bob had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for many years and passed away in November 2013.
Bob put so much hard work and effort into the club that it is doubtful that it would have been successful without his input. Nearly always out for rides every Sunday, he will perhaps be particularly remembered for his organising of many ‘Randonnee’ events as well as several successful club trips away in Brittany. Bob was also heavily involved in running the club’s time-trial events over the years.
108 people of all ages entered the event, which so far has raised over £1,600 for Parkinson’s UK
Particular thanks to Paul and Michelle at 108, to Joy Mansbridge and family, who with Margaret Ashman and Liz Hocking (former club members) ran the Surprise cake stop, to Chloe for helping with registration and posters, to Niq for route checking, to John F for publicity and helping with goody bags, and to Chris F for devising the routes.
Jane is there a link people can use to add donations or another way to make a donation still, a few friends have asked me – they’re all out of the county though.

Thanks for organising another great day btw – day would be proud. x
Adam, one of our members has set up a virgin money giving page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=CarlJackaman Anyone can make a donation through his page. We were all pleased to honour your dad’s memory today. x
Hi. I would like to attend tomorrow’s memorial ride, but I will have to sign on the day. This will be my first-ever time. Will there be route cards for the 100k?
Please put 2 more on your list for the 50km route. We are John and Deb Grills who found out about your event via Pave Velo in St Austell. Look forward to seeing you on Sunday
We’ll both be there for the 2015 Bob Mansbridge Memorial Ride! Yvonne & Jonathan xxx
Sorry to hear that. Thanks for letting us know. Get better soon.
Hello Neal, Yes, you can pay on the day. Thanks for the advance notice.
Hi Jane,
Very sorry but I won’t be there this morning, bruised my ribs yesterday, a deep breath hurts!!
Neal
Hi,
I will be coming up with some members of Ludgvan cycling Club. Could we pay on the day please?
There’ll be five of us but possibly a couple more.
Poor you. Thanks for letting us know and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I was hoping to join in but yesterday I had a big cycle crash and I’m not going to be fit for a week or so and nor is my bike. My father had PD too though so I’ll be sponsoring someone for £10 as it is such a good cause.
Regards Rob
Hello Paul, Yes, we can accept entries on the day – although advance notice is preferred so we can make sure there are enough route sheets, brevet cards and goody bags etc available!
Hi, I’m not sure if I will be away working. Can I enter on the day. Thanks, Paul.
