Riders: John and Jude, Paul and Ros, Dave B, John G, Niq, John G, Chloe and Guest Rider Carla The dull grey start to the day was unable to dampen the enthusiasm for a super-slow dawdle on the first of our new monthly super easy rides. After a slight delay while the entire technical knowhow […]
3 guest riders raised our number to eleven, but we couldn’t find a football so had to go cycling instead. Avoiding the roadworks we sped up the Greenway and thence past the Tennis Club to Besore and then Twelveheads, where the road is now newly resurfaced- Hoorah! Taking the Chacewater road and up at Sunrise […]
Dave B, Niq, John G, John F, Jude, Paul and Ros, Newest Member Mark Rugman plus two Guest Riders Rochelle and Graham set off across the cobbles and out through Idless. A problem with Mark’s rear wheel delayed us for a while. We were all astonished that nobody had a cassette removal tool with them, […]
Five cyclists (Julian, Chris R, Dom, Martin and myself) had the motivation to haul ourselves out of bed on a Sunday Morning for a 43 mile classic bike ride to the Sithney Team Rooms. Everyone had their own reason for wanting to be out in the drizzle and mist. Personally, I like to think I cycle because I love to […]
25th March British Summertime began with a mad rush for the bicycle! Three fantastic rides left Truro this Sunday. The 9.00am Club ride had 10 riders with around 47 miles covered at 13mph to Porthleven. A big thank you to Jeremy Bond for leading. The 10.00am Leisure ride had 6 riders with around 28 miles […]
This was a make-it-up-as-you-go ride. The plan was to go to Heligan, but Heligan is the palace of the Snow Queen, and she was likely to emerge today, so we headed in the opposite direction; five solos and a tandem, under a clear sky. Cold as charity, though. Your reporter’s nose, tiddley-pom, froze while we […]
Dry with rain threatening, four riders left the Piazza about 10.15 for a ride to the Countryman at Piece. Rod Tinson, Mike Eastwood, Niq Carter-Rowe and Hugh Bryson (ride leader) Rod led us out to the new cycleway at Coosebean, from there on to Threemilestone on the cyclepath and our usual route through Greenbottom and Dangerous Crossing to Quay Downs Road. Left towards Mt Hawke, left again to Smokey Joes and across the A30 to United Downs. From there, instead of taking the intended route from Carharrack to Carnkie, Niq led us on to Burncoose and Badger Hill to avoid arriving too early. Up Badger Hill and on to Four Lanes, across the main road and down to arrive at Piece (still in the dry!) for about 12.20, just over 20 miles and a welcome break for lunch. Still dry, but rain threatening, we made our way back towards Lanner , on to Carharrack where we split to make our own respective ways home. Mike, Rod & Niq to Truro via Bissoe, Penweathers where Mike carried on to Grampound Road and Hugh to Scorrier and home to St Agnes. About 30 miles from Truro and back. Got rained on going home, but very enjoyable ride, thanks chaps!
